We first met Angelo and Ben after Hari (Angelo’s mum) initially contacted us to shoot her daughters big day! We were instantly so excited because firstly, we hadn’t yet shot a Greek wedding, and secondly we immediately bonded & laughed about Ben’s ability (or inability) to smile like Chandler from friends!
Steph and I began the day at Angelo’s parents house, where Angelo was getting ready and where the traditional ceremony of ‘Stolisma’ was to be held. Angelo already had her make-up done earlier on by Sophia at Nadya’s Salon in Barnet. She looked so radiant, like a real life Princess Jasmine. Whilst Steph stayed upstairs, capturing the the beautiful details of Angelo’s dress (which was especially made for her), the most amazing ring box (our favourite so far!), Angelo’s gorgeous bridal bouquet (supplied by Ramels Florist, Potters Bar) and Angelo’s last few moments of getting ready, I was downstairs capturing Angelo’s friends and family arriving for the ‘Stolisma’. I have never seen a house so jam packed with people, but it was absolutely wonderful and we felt so privileged to be able to witness and record such an important time for Angelo & her family. It was so emotional and we both had to fight back the tears.
The actual wedding took place at The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Cross and St. Michael in London, which is incredibly grand. We left before Angelo so we could see Ben before the ceremony and capture guests’ arrival at the Cathedral. Traditionally, at a Greek wedding the Groom meets the Bride outside the church. However, to add a bit of Englishness in there, Angelo walked down the aisle with her Father.
The speeches were heartfelt and the Best Sisters had everyone in fits of laughter. The new Mr & Mrs first dance was followed by a Ceilidh and Greek dancing later on, which was enormous amounts of fun and made for some awesome photo opportunities.
We really did have the most amazing day and Angelo & Ben, you really are great!! Thank you so so much for choosing us!! We wish you many, many moments of happiness, and NEVER stop the laughter.
Peace and good vibes!
